Who We Are ?

National Business Development Program for SMEs (NBDP) is a project of SMEDA, funded through Public Sector Development Program of Government of Pakistan.

SMEDA aims to be a worldwide model organization, which is effective in determining SME and entrepreneurship policies, handholds SMEs to undertake an important role in the global market by increasing exporting capacities of SMEs, provides access to valuable information and networks and promotes internationalization and innovation levels of SMEs.

  • Enhance quality and increase the number, outreach and diversity of the training programs offered to SMEs.
  • Improve SMEs access to finance and export markets through provision of Credit Worthiness Assessment Support.

The NBDP envisages provision of handholding support / business development services to SMEs to promote business startup, improvement of efficiencies in existing SME value chains to make them globally competitive and provide conducive business environment through evidence based policy-assistance to the Government of Pakistan. The Project is objectively designed to support SMEDA's capacity of providing an effective handholding to SMEs. The proposed program aimed at facilitating around 314,000 SME beneficiaries over a period of five years.

Following are the main initiative of the National Business Development Program for SMEs (NBDP)

SME Capacity Building Initiative through Trainings

  1. Demand Based Training Programs

Demand-based trainings aims to strengthen Small and Medium Enterprises through provision of well-structured training program under Non-Financial Advisory Services.

  1. In-house Training Programs

NBDP & SMEDA is providing In-house trainings to SMEs through a pool of 137 pre-qualified trainers across Pakistan.

  1. Training through Animated Videos - In Process

In order to further facilitate the SMEs, National Business Development Program (NBDP) aims to develop animated videos based on themes of business management and business operations. These videos will be available to entrepreneurs for their guidance and capacity building.

  1. Youth Entrepreneurship Programs - YEP

NBDP - SMEDA is providing trainings to youth through a pool of 137 pre-qualified trainers across Pakistan.

BDSP Strengthening & Networking Initiative

  1. Training of Trainers Sessions (ToT)

The objective of this program is to build capacity of private sector BDSPs to enhance their usability for quality service provision to SMEs Sector through a series of Training of Trainers (TOT) Sessions.

  1. Standardized Training Modules Development Program

Standardized Training Manuals (9 trainer & 9 Participant manuals) developed by professional experts of one of leading Management Institute of Pakistan. These high-quality manuals aim to provide an opportunity to SMEs Managers, Trainers, Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs) and Academia Professionals to get practical and thorough course material to train the business entities specially SMEs across Pakistan

One-on-One Consultancy Sessions (Helpdesks)

NBDP is providing consultancy to SMEs through a pool of pre-qualified consultants through One-on-One Consultancy Sessions across Pakistan Aim of Thematic One-on-One helpdesks is to provide specific advice and hand-holding support to Small & Medium Businesses through subject matter experts. These consultancy sessions will answer SME's queries and add value on the subject to attain profitable growth.

NBDP-SMEDA is constantly striving to provide an enabling environment and business development services to Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs). To facilitate the SME sector, NBDP-SMEDA is pleased to announce the launch of SMEs Business Helpline. The SME Business helpline shall serve as a centralized business information center to all existing and potential SMEs across Pakistan. (Monday to Friday; 9AM - 5PM)
